We cannot begin to express our immense gratitude for your contributions from our supporters toward the recent Nairobi, Kenya missions trip.
To say the least, this made such a huge difference to the trip! We were able to buy useful school supplies, activity supplies for the daily events held at the Orphanage as well as arts and craft learning such as bow tie making and the Christmas party and talent show, Christmas gifts for each child and food to last the orphanage for a few months amongst contributions from other members of the team from Trinity Chapel. The community children also came to join in which increased our outreach as the Victoria Joy Orphanage is based in Kahawa west, a slum area in Nairobi.
In addition, we were able to pay school fees for 7 children at the Orphanage for this term. You can read about the Elohims Basket Education fund initiative here.
The trip went very well, each day we had different activities planned, wrapped up with lots of interactions to communicate God’s love.
We met many remarkable children who were very intelligent and gifted but most especially resilient. Their standard of accommodation was below par, amongst many other difficult circumstances but these children were just a joy to be around. The children’s interaction with one another and the love they displayed towards each other and us was remarkable, showing us that “Everything is about perspective”.
The Elohims Basket and Trinity Chapel team had an eventful time, filled with joy and love.
As our time there drew to a close, we received comments from the orphanage matron Mama Rose and her helpers to the tone of the below.
“ I am so grateful, I can’t believe you would do this for my children”
“ the children will never forget this and what you have done for them, you and your team got it right”
Personally, one of my highlights was watching how happy the children were by our visit, there were so many smiles! I was also pleasantly astonished by the impact the team made in the lives of the children at the Orphanage and I believe that while the Orphanage mentioned that we were a blessing to them, they were by far more of a blessing to us!
There were also tears of appreciation. We could not have done this without your support, hence words cannot express our appreciation enough.
Thank you so much once again for answering the call and extending a hand of love. There is only how much I can say in words so I hope these pictures can provide some more insight for you to share in the moments.
